Volunteer Coordinator
Description/Responsibilities
We need a volunteer to recruit volunteers. The first job is to keep the list of opportunities in this message current. Most importantly, we need a volunteer coordinator to find people who want to do these many jobs.
- Identifies volunteer roles in the Boston Chapter that need to be filled.
- Seeks individuals who are interested in volunteering and matches their skills, interests, and preferences to volunteer opportunities.
- Follows up on possible volunteer leads from other chapter members.
- Serves a proactive role in encouraging chapter leaders to write job descriptions for the volunteer job bank, or writes draft volunteer job descriptions and gets input and approval from the contact person for the position.
- Receives volunteer job submissions via email, checks them for completeness and appropriateness. Forwards the information to the person on the Internet Committee who is responsible for posting volunteer jobs on the web site.
- Works with chapter leaders to identify and encourage new chapter volunteers.
- Ensures that new volunteers are fulfilling the responsibilities of the position; supports them as needed to create a "win-win" situation for the chapter and the individual.
Skills/Experience
- Good interpersonal skills
- Proactivity regarding identifying chapter needs and encouraging members to become involved
Time Commitment
2-4 hours per month
