Judges' Overview
Judging is a great opportunity not only to see what is being produced
in our field, but to team up with other professionals to provide
feedback and input. It is a team effort to help encourage quality
in our profession.
Judging consists of the following:
Online Communication Competition Judges
- Register
to judge.
- Attend Judges' Orientation.
- The Orientation package contains all the forms for judging.
- If applicable, perform Web site judging in November.
- Attend all-day Consensus Judging to review all entries in all
categories, determine award winners, and finalize the judging
forms. Judges who have reviewed entries via URL attend half-day.
Technical Art Competition Judges
- Register
to judge.
- Attend Judges Orientation.
- Attend Consensus Judging to review all entries in all categories,
determine award winners, and finalize the judging forms.
Technical Publications Competition Judges

- Review the materials at home, marking the judging forms
with detailed, preliminary comments.

entries. Entries are evaluated by category, and the time commitment
is approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on the number of entries
in the category. At this time, the judging teams determine the
award winners and finalize the judging forms.
Note that all judges must attend orientation.
If you have any questions about judging, don't hesitate to ask
one of the competitions
contacts.

Spotlight on...Judging
"I have both entered and judged in the publications competition.
In many ways, I believe the judging has helped me more professionally.
While I received valuable feedback that helped me improve the particular
books I submitted, the judging has exposed me to other documentation
professionals' ideas and experiences. This has promoted growth in
intellect and perspective that has affected everything I create."
