Workshop Title
Career Tactics for Technical Communicators: a Half-Day Hands-on Career Management Workshop
Presenter: Brenda Huettner

Description
This workshop steps you through the basics of today's technical communication landscape, and helps you to identify your own areas of strengths and weaknesses. We'll learn — and practice — a variety of techniques to help you determine what you want and create a plan to help you get it. You will:
  • Learn how to increase your visibility in the technical communication field
  • Key in to your local technical communication market
  • Evaluate your own skills and learn how to improve them
  • Polish your "elevator speech"
  • Study good (and bad!) resumes
  • Practice interviewing techniques
  • Review a variety of job hunting, training, and career resources

Participants should bring along their current resume and work samples.
