Policies

The Society for Technical Communication (STC) Boston Chapter Membership Information Committee created the Member Profile/Resume Bank as a chapter benefit.

Members of the Boston Chapter can place their professional summary information and resumes online for review by technical communicators, contract agencies, temporary agencies, and other profit, nonprofit, private, and public companies and their representatives. Only members of the Boston Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication can have their profiles and resumes posted.

The member submitting the information can only submit one file (in HTML, PDF, or MS Word format) or one link to his or her resume. The submitter is solely responsible for the information provided. STC has no control over who views and responds to the information made available via this service.

The Membership Information Manager can refuse to post, or can remove, any submission considered unacceptable, for any reason.

Procedures

  1. Optional: Format your resume as a Word, PDF, or HTML file. Test the display in Internet Explorer and Netscape, if possible, and verify any links. Your resume can be stored on your own personal home page and linked to the Boston Chapter Web site or submitted to the Member Profile Manager and posted on the Boston Chapter STC web site.

  2. Log in and complete the Member Profile Submission form, and include a professional summary or list of characteristics that would interest others who are reading the member profiles. Indicate that you are actively seeking employment, if applicable.

  3. Provide the URL (if your home page) or the name of the file (if you are sending it to the Member Profile Manager) on the Member Profile Submission form.

  4. Submit the form.

You will receive an email when your member profile and resume are posted in the Member Profile/Resume Bank. This email will indicate the expiration date (two months after the posting date). Your member profile information will be removed from the Boston Chapter STC web site after the expiration date, unless you do one of the following:

To post your member profile and resume for an additional two months Notify the Membership Profile Manager (by email) that the information is still current.
To update your member profile/resume information (and begin another two month period) Login and use the Member Profile Submission form.
